Planning an online splurge? Read this first!

Christmas Day has been and gone and I had a ball in the Great North Children’s Hospital playing Mrs Claus.

So here we are on Boxing Day – many of us will start to feel stir crazy in the house and have had the traditional family argument over the Monopoly/Scrabble board or gaming session.  Time, then to start looking at further shopping opportunities in the Boxing Day and January sales. If you’re planning an online splurge, please remember that when you use you can raise donations for Henry Dancer Days without any extra cost or effort.

Did you know that last year, it was reported that online shoppers spent an incredible £519,000 a minute in the Boxing Day sales with an estimated £748 million spent throughout the day. There was even a big jump in online sales on Christmas Day with 147 million visits to retail websites on December 25th.

Imagine what a small charity like Henry Dancer Days could do with even a tiny percentage of this vast amount. For us, we know that a book for a child in the Storyteller project costs £5, £50 will pay for a distraction session in the kids oncology ward and £500 will pay for a full grant to a family who have a child with cancer.

Now imagine that, while you were buying the latest gadgets, those boots that you deemed a little too expensive in the run up to Christmas or even booking a holiday to get away from the winter chill, you could raise money for Henry Dancer Days without any effort or any extra expense…

Well, with you can do just that!

Having spoken to several of our supporters, we know that their Christmas purchases have ranged from books and electrical items to clothing and a fair few pairs of socks! One of out supporters has even recorded a quick video to tell us all how easy it is to use.

We would like to thank everyone who has signed up to Easyfundraising so far; your donations really do mean everything to the families we support. One 13 year old beneficiary told us the money they received “meant we could go to London – mum had said we couldn’t afford it!!”

If you’re heading online to pick up a bargain, please do so through Easyfundraising so that we can help more families face one of the toughest challenges life can throw at them.
