For a small charity, our Season of Goodwill has been year-long. So many people have organised events, done sponsored runs/tennisathons/slims, donated personally, contributed as businesses or come to our fundraisers and Ball. I can’t thank them enough.
When I set up Henry Dancer Days, I thought that we might help a few kids and families – that’s now 200 nationwide. I then thought that we could do a few sessions of storytelling in the Great North Children’s Hospital at the RVI – we now go in twice a week. This Christmas I came up with the idea of taking gifts in to young cancer patients who are in hospital on Christmas Day – I’ve been inundated with toys and presents.
Having travelled Henry’s tragic road with him, I know how much small things mean to the kids and their families but without the generosity of those who support us I’m aware that we couldn’t do as much as we do. Some of you will have read when I recently wrote that it now costs £2500 per month to support our families, and this is increasing.
Thanks to those already planning fundraisers for 2016. I’m forever in your debt. To the CLIC Sargent Workers who continue to refer families to us, thank you SO much.
I wish you all a peaceful Christmas and a happy New Year.
